AI FILM PRODUCTION — FROM IDEA TO FINAL, HANDS-ON.
ABOUT
I'm Matthias Wilde, a freelance AI Creative Technologist and VFX Producer, and founder of the Wild Stuff Collective, with 25+ years in film, advertising, and postproduction.
I work hands-on across the entire production process, from concept to final execution, combining creative direction with technical delivery.
An early adopter of generative AI since 2020, I develop workflows and solutions tailored to each project, using the right tools rather than relying on a fixed stack.
I operate as a generalist by design — adaptable, fast, and focused on results, while managing teams and complex productions on a global scale.
All projects shown here are created by me, using a flexible mix of technologies.
WHAT I DO
End-to-end AI film production, from script to final delivery. Book me as a one-man show or scale with a team — consistent characters, locations, and product integration included.
AI-focused producing for larger productions, bridging classic pipelines (VFX, 3D, post) with generative workflows. I connect tools, teams, and processes to deliver production-ready results.
Consulting, workflow design, and hands-on implementation of AI-driven pipelines — from automation (n8n) to content production systems. Includes rapid prototyping, R&D, and integration into existing workflows.
Your challenge doesn't fit the list? Perfect. If it involves AI, film, or creative tech — we'll figure out the right approach.
RESEARCH LAB
AUTOMATION · ONGOING PROJECT
Film production is no longer just generated — it's orchestrated.
IN PROGRESSMost discussions about AI in film production circle around the same question: Which model generates the best images?
That's the wrong question.
The building blocks are already there. Consistent characters. Controllable camera movements. Controllable image-to-image generation. 3D as a structural and reference layer. Motion, facial expressions as input. That works today.
The real problem is the connection between these building blocks. What happens in most pipelines right now is exactly this: everything exists — but in isolation. A character here, a shot there, a video somewhere else. Nobody connects these building blocks into a controllable system. Nobody translates the creative intent of a script into a reproducible visual logic.
That's exactly what this project is.
An important starting point: the goal is not to automate the entire film production process. But precisely the part that is already deterministic today and describable through constraints.
That covers structured scripts, scene logic, character consistency, spatial definitions, camera setups, and visual stills — storyboard and shootingboard. Up to this point, production becomes calculable. And that's exactly why it becomes automatable.
Once we go beyond that — movement, performance, timing, editing rhythm — we leave this deterministic space. And that's exactly where human control, interpretation, and performance remain. The system handles the preparation. The human makes the decisions.
AUTOMATED CASTING → CURATED BY THE HUMAN
GENERATED LOCATIONS → SELECTED BY THE HUMAN
SCENE VARIANTS → EVALUATED BY THE HUMAN
VISUAL DIRECTIONS → DECIDED BY THE HUMAN
The system decides nothing. It prepares decisions. And that's precisely what preserves what cannot be automated: taste, intuition, creative intent.
Anyone who wants to make generative AI production-ready needs an understanding of what happens at which level.
PROBABILISTIC
Generating possibilities
Same model, same prompt — slightly different result. This layer delivers variation, interpretation, the creatively unexpected.
DETERMINISTIC
Securing stability
Same input, same result. The layer of structure — scenes, spaces, characters defined precisely so the system doesn't drift.
CONSTRAINTS
Enforcing correctness
Rules that narrow the solution space. This person is defined. This space has fixed dimensions. This camera position is set.
Only the interplay of these three layers makes a generative system production-ready.
The pipeline translates a film script step by step into visual output — with controllable creative intent at every level. Input material can be a script, a briefing document, a reference presentation, audio, or video. Everything is processed, structured, extracted.
A scene structure with dramaturgical rhythm
Character definitions with consistent visual identities
Location definitions with spatial logic
Camera decisions derived from the dramatic context of each scene
Visual outputs — storyboard and shootingboard — that carry the script's intent rather than replace it
What matters is not what gets generated. But how the path from idea to image is organised — and who retains control at which point.

PLANNED
Storyboard Workflow · Director Agent · Frontend Interface
Planned extensions: 3D constraint layer for spatial scene logic via Blender, selective image optimisation on final output frames.
"Automated creativity" describes something different from what is being built here.
Automation means: input in, output out. The creative decision lies in the system. Systematisation means: the system is the infrastructure for creative decisions. The intent comes from the human. The infrastructure makes it reproducible, scalable, visually translatable.
Not from "how do I generate a good image?" to "let the AI decide." But from "how do I generate a good image?" to "how do I build a system that consistently executes my creative intent — and prepares the decisions I want to make myself?"
This shift changes production. Not because models get better. But because the connections between them get better.
